Assist will help you create your own training programs or conduct one or more of the following trainings germane to your organization:

Operational Procedures

Assist reviews an organization's policies and procedures manual. Based on this information and Assist's experience in organizational effectiveness and efficiency, we develop and conduct a training that is tailored to the culture and operations of the organization.

Cultural Competency

Assist provides training that enhances the understanding of inter-cultural issues, cultural differences, and linguistic relevance to the community. Assist's associates have expertise and access to specialized speakers in the American Indian, Latino, and African American communities.

Reporting Mandates

Assist will train staff on reporting mandates. Staff will learn about mandated reportable actions (child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence), how to report and what to do after reporting.

Team-building

By learning the elements of a successful team, staff will learn to work together effectively and successfully. Assist conducts team-building activities to demonstrate the strengths of teamwork and collaboration.

Suicidal and Homicidal Assessments

Assist teaches staff how to conduct suicidal and homicidal assessments. Staff will be trained in identifying actively suicidal/homicidal individuals, how to handle the situation and to whom and how to report suicidal/homicidal individuals.

Client Confidentiality

In accordance with new HIPAA regulations, staff will learn and understand the limits of confidentiality and maintenance of boundaries between the service provider and client, patient, or customer.

Granstmanship

Organizations will learn how to research, prepare, and submit grant applications to government funding sources, private, public, and corporate foundations. This is a training series that generally spans five half days or three full days.

Stress Management

Staff will understand that stress results from a disconnect between expectation and reality. They will identify sources of stress and learn stress-reducing techniques. This course is offered in conjunction with the Time Management curriculum.

Time Management

Staff will learn and adapt time management strategies to work more effectively and efficiently. This course is offered in conjunction with the Stress Management curriculum.

Communication Skills

Staff will learn different styles of communication. This course is offered in conjunction with the Conflict Resolution curriculum.

Conflict Resolution

Assist instructs staff on communicating effectively to de-escalate confrontational situations and to work toward resolutions. This session is conducted in conjunction with the Communication Skills curriculum.

Job Readiness

The course is conducted for clients served in a job-training program or staff (staff development). Depending on the audience, the curriculum may cover career preparation, job search skills, applying for a job, preparing for an interview, and being an effective employee. This curriculum can be tailored to the agency's needs and type of program.

Interview Skills

The target audience (either staff or individuals served) will learn the dos and don'ts of interviewing. The training can be focused on how to interview or how to be interviewed, depending on target audience (supervisors or individuals served). More importantly, the training addresses the legalities of what can be asked during an interview.

This course can be conducted for clients/individuals served in a job-training program or to staff in a hiring position.

Supervision Skills

This course is geared toward first-time supervisors/managers and supervisors/managers wanting to refresh their skills. This course covers basic skills of supervising, understanding employee rights, and appropriately communicating with staff in accordance to employee rights and agency policy.

Professional Development: The session details a smooth transition from direct service provider to supervising staff. New supervisors will learn how to manage staff appropriately within employee rights.

Employment Law: Topics covered include but are not limited to sexual harassment, discrimination, Americans with Disabilities Act, workplace violence, equal employment opportunity, lawful hiring, lawful terminations, wage and hour law, and workers compensation.



 How to Start A Non-Profit

Have you ever dreamed of starting a non-profit? Have you ever wondered what it takes to start one and finally make your mark on the world? Assist is excited to announce that they will be having an intensive half day “How to Start a Non-Profit” training to support organizations and or individuals who are dreaming of starting a non-profit and need help doing it.

The path towards the formation of a federally tax exempt non-profit organization can be arduous. So much so, that the process is best completed with the help of a guide who has successfully helped others reach their goal. At this training, through our interactive format, you will gain the foundation to bring your non-profit goals to fruition.

This includes the characteristics that define an effective non-profit organization and the key characteristics that will be important to future funders. You will learn how to avoid mistakes and ensure a successful application.

About The Speakers

The training will be taught by Christiaan P. Manno, MSW and Ruth Factor, JD. Assist Management Consulting, LLC has worked with nonprofit organizations in development, administration, grant writing, and operation since 1989. Mr. Manno is responsible for a variety of tasks with Assist, including non-profit formation, and can help guide you through this process. Mr. Manno earned his master of social work from the University of Southern California, with a concentration in community organization, planning, and administration.
